Built on research about starting

UNI was designed based on behavioral science, user research, and real experiences of people struggling to start tasks.

Before building UNI, we studied why starting feels so difficult — especially for young adults facing overwhelm, procrastination, and decision fatigue.

The Problem We Studied

Many people don't struggle with knowing what to do.
They struggle with getting started.

This gap between intention and action is one of the most common behavioral challenges, especially among students and young professionals.

Research participants repeatedly described experiences like:

  • “My mind is active but my body won’t move.”

  • “Facing the task makes me anxious, so I procrastinate.”

  • “I can do things for others, but I compromise on goals I set for myself.”

How we studied the problem
In-depth Interviews

We also conducted qualitative interviews to understand the emotional and behavioral mechanisms behind procrastination.

Participants included: students, entrepreneurs, professionals, managers.

Interviews revealed different types of starting barriers, including emotional paralysis, attention fragmentation, and dependence on external accountability.
